Cotton Care

With a little care, Faribault Mill cotton blankets will last for generations.

All of our cotton throws and bed blankets can be washed in a home washing machine and tumble dried in a home dryer.

Washing Instructions

Machine wash separately in warm to hot water on a short, gentle cycle with as much water as possible to allow for movement. Use a mild detergent without bleach or brighteners. Do not use harsh detergents or fabric softeners. Always pre-dilute your detergent and ensure there is no residual bleach. 

Drying Instructions

Tumble dry on high heat until dry. Remove promptly. Do not over dry and do not dry with other items. Dryer balls can help fluff the blanket during the tumble drying process.

Prewashed

All our cotton blankets are prewashed and dried. Therefore, washing a new Faribault Mill cotton blanket upon receipt is unnecessary, and we recommend avoiding it.

Stretching

Our cotton blankets are made with thick 100% cotton yarn with 3 threads twisted into one. This makes the blanket heavy and causes some stretching through everyday use. Simply making the bed every day will cause the blanket to stretch as it is pulled and tugged on. Additionally, draping off the side of the bed will cause some stretching in the blanket. Washing the blanket in hot water and drying on high heat, following the washing instructions, will help shrink it back to its original size.
